Michael P. Dirr, 45, of Convoy was reported to be unconscious with a head injury. He was transported to OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital and was then flown to a hospital in Fort Wayne.

5:41 a.m. – Dispatched Middle Point Fire to a residential alarm on Gamble Road in Ridge Township.

6:00 a.m. – Deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on U.S. Route 30 in Pleasant Township. A 2008 Chrysler Sebring driven by Cory James Grime of Convoy was eastbound on U.S. 30 near John Brown Rd. According to a report, he was driving too fast for conditions when attempting to get into the right-hand turn lane at U.S. 30 and John Brown Rd., when his car slid through the intersection and ran off the road. The car then ran into the ditch before coming to a rest. No injuries were reported.

7:18 p.m. – Dispatched Middle Point EMS to a residence on Wren Landeck Road in Jennings Township for a subject having an allergic reaction.

8:13 a.m. – Deputies served a warrant issued by the District Court in Grand Haven, Michigan for a felony charge of false pretenses to defraud and a felony charge of using a computer system in a crime. Andrii Osoba, 30, of Warren, Michigan, is being held at the Van Wert County Correctional Facility on local charges. He will be extradited to Michigan when he is released locally.

8:51 a.m. – Deputies responded to a residence on Lincoln Highway in Pleasant Township for a report of two mailboxes being struck by an unknown vehicle.

9:30 a.m. – Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on U.S. 30 in Ridge Township for a report of damage to their vehicle from striking an object in the roadway that had fallen from a second vehicle that was passing. No injuries were reported.

1:53 p.m. – Deputies served a warrant issued by Van Wert Municipal Court for Failure to Appear. Michael Maxwell Whisman, 35, of Van Wert, is being held at the Van Wert County Correctional Facility.

2:05 p.m. – Deputies, along with Ohio City Fire, responded to an area of U.S. 127 in Liberty Township for a report of a vehicle fire.

2:17 p.m. – Deputies responded to a residence on West Maple Avenue in the City of Van Wert to assist a motorist locked out of their vehicle.

3:13 p.m. – Deputies responded to an area of U.S. 30 in Ridge Township for a report of a motor vehicle crash. A 2015 Kenworth Semi with a trailer driven by Terasa Jarvi of Lima was eastbound on U.S. 30 approximately 0.2 miles east of Boroff Rd. Jarvi lost control, causing the rig to jackknife and go off the right side of the roadway. The semi struck the ditch and a fence before coming to rest. It sustained disabling damage from the crash and had to be towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

3:23 a.m. – Deputies, along with Middle Point Fire and EMS, responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on U.S. 30 in Ridge Township. A 2023 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck with a trailer driven by Lawrence Lockhart of Syracuse, Indiana, was westbound on U.S. 30 just west of Gilliland Road. The rig slid into the median, jackknifed, and came to rest, causing damage to the left side of the tractor. The driver stated that the wind hit him, causing him to lose control. The driver was transported to OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital by Middle Point EMS.

5:02 p.m. – Deputies, along with Middle Point Fire and EMS, responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Lincoln Highway in Ridge Township. The Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the accident.

5:16 p.m. – Deputies responded to a residence on West Jefferson Street in the Village of Ohio City to check the welfare of a juvenile.

5:28 p.m. – Deputies responded to an area of U.S. 30 in Washington Township for a report of reckless driving.

5:51 p.m. – Deputies responded to a location on Tully Harrison Road in Tully Township for a report of a stop sign being down.

7:03 p.m. – Deputies responded to a location on Mendon Road in Ridge Township to check the welfare of horses.

7:22 p.m. – Deputies responded to a residence on South Central Street in the Village of Ohio City to check an open line 911 call.

7:45 p.m. – Deputies spoke with a resident from Hoaglin Center Road in Hoaglin Township regarding a complaint of animal cruelty.

11:44 p.m. – Deputies responded to an area of Mayfair Street in the City of Van Wert to assist the Van Wert Police Department.

On 8-3-2026 – officers were sent to the Love’s Truck Stop to investigate a minor private property crash involving two semi tractor-trailers.

On 8-3-2026 – officers spoke with employees at a business in the 1100 block of Elida Ave, who reported that a male had stolen items from the business and then left. Officers were able to identify the male, Anthony Doll, 53, of Delphos, from video surveillance. Doll was located and issued a summons to appear in Lima Municipal Court for theft charges. Several hours later officers were advised that Doll had just stole items from a business in the 100 block of E. 5th St. Officers stopped Doll and located the stolen items. Doll was taken into custody and transported to the Allen County Jail.

On 8-4-2026 – officers, along with Delphos Fire and Rescue, were dispatched to the 200 block of W. Clime St. for a juvenile who had attempted to harm herself. The juvenile was transported to the hospital for treatment and mental evaluation.

On 8-4-2026 – officers were dispatched to a business in the 1900 block of E. 5th St. for a disturbance between a customer and an employee. Officers arrived and advised the customer to leave the business and to contact the corporate office with any complaints.

On 8-4-2026 – officers spoke with employees at a business in the 1800 block of E. 5th St. who reported that a male had been staying on their property, and they wished for him to be criminally trespassed.

On 8-4-2026 – officers spoke with a female in the 700 block of N. Canal St. who reported that her juvenile son is being habitually unruly and requested that a report be completed.

On 8-5-2026 – officers spoke with a male who reported that some of his checks were stolen and his signature forged by an ex-girlfriend who no longer lives with him.

On 8-6-2026 – officers spoke with a female who reported being scammed out of $1800. The female stated that she received an email from someone claiming to be her pastor. The person requested that she buy gift cards and email the card numbers to him.

On 8-6-2026 – officers responded to the 1800 block of E. 5th St. to assist Delphos Fire and Rescue on a call of a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

On 8-6-2026 – officers were dispatched to the 400 block of E. 8th St. for a possible domestic disturbance. The male and female involved advised officers that they just had a verbal altercation.

On 8-7-2026 – officers responded to a business in the 800 block of Ambrose for an unwanted guest complaint. Upon arrival officers found that an ex-employee had been in the business causing a disturbance. The employee left prior to officers’ arrival. The ex-employee was located and advised not to return to the business.

On 8-7-2026 – officers spoke with a female who reported leaving her wallet behind at a business on E. 5th St. The female went back to retrieve the wallet, but it was gone and had not been turned in.

On 8-8-2026 – officers responded to a business in the 1400 block of N. Main St, to investigate the activation of an alarm.

On 8-8-2026 – officers, along with Delphos EMS, were dispatched to the 900 block of Superior St. for a dog bite complaint. Officers found that a female had suffered a bite from her rescue dog which required medical attention. The female was transported to the hospital for treatment.

On 8-9-2026 – officers received a call of a suspicious person in the 600 block of E. 7th St. The caller stated that someone was in a nearby vehicle with a flashlight. Officers arrived to the area but did not locate anyone.

On 8-9-2026 – officers spoke with a male who stated that he provided his identification to an employee at an establishment on E. 2nd St. The male stated that the employee intentionally damaged his ID.
