NWC hoops: Crestview, Lincolnview win

Crestview and Lincolnview each enjoyed Northwest Conference road wins on Friday, with the Knights outscoring Ada and the Lancers rallying to defeat Allen East.

Crestview 70 Ada 62

ADA — Crestview had five players in double figures and the Knights used a big second quarter run to defeat Ada 70-62.

Carson Kreischer led the way with 18 points, while Kaden Short poured in 16 and Kalen Etzler had 15 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, while JJ Ward finished with 11 points, followed by Gavin Etzler’s 10 points.

The two teams were tied 17-17 at the end of the first quarter, but Crestview used a 20-9 second quarter scoring advantage to lead 37-26 at halftime. The two Etzlers each scored seven points in the second period while Short added four points, all on free throws.

Kreischer scored eight points in the third quarter, while Ada’s Phil Coulson scored eight of his 23 points in the period to pull Ada within eight, 53-45.

Each team scored 17 in the fourth quarter, with Kalen Etzler scoring five and Short, Ward and Kreischer four each. Ada’s Brandon Hull put in 13 of his game high 26 in the final period.

The Knights were 25 of 45 (55 percent) from the floor, compared to 24 of 56 (42 percent) for Ada (6-10, 1-3 NWC). Crestview was 15 of 19 from the foul line, compared to 6 of 10 by the Bulldogs, and the Knights enjoyed a 28-17 rebounding advantage.

Crestview (6-9, 2-3 NWC) will try for a third consecutive win tonight at Celina.

Lincolnview 69 Allen East 62

HARROD — Trailing 23-20 at halftime, Lincolnview used a big second half scoring run to rally past Allen East in a 69-62 Northwest Conference win on Friday.

Back-to-back treys by Collin Overholt and Creed Jessee turned a 32-29 deficit into a 35-32 lead with just over three minutes left in the third period, then later in the quarter and into the final stanza, the Lancers used a 15-2 run to pull ahead 50-37. Jessee scored eight points during the run, including two triples, while Clayton Leeth added three and Overholt, Landon Price and Jake Bowersock each added two points.

Lincolnview outscored 27-25 in a wild fourth quarter, with 11 of Lincolnview’s points coming from the free throw line.

Jessee finished with a game high 21 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Overholt added 14 points and five assists. Bowersock scored 13 and Aaron Cavinder 11, as the Lancers finished 23 of 53 (43 percent) from the floor and 16 of 20 from the foul line, to go along with 23 rebounds and nine turnovers.

Bradden Crumrine and Eli Criblez each scored 18 for the Mustangs (4-11, 0-5 NWC), and Allen East shot 22 of 53 (42 percent) from the floor and 9 of 14 from the free throw line. The Mustangs had 33 rebounds and 17 turnovers.

Lincolnview (7-7, 3-1 NWC) will host Parkway today, with the junior varsity game scheduled to tip off at 5 p.m.
