HAVILAND — Crestview stunned Wayne Trace and in the process notched the team’s third straight ACME win, 7-6 over the Raiders on Thursday.

It was the first loss of the season for Wayne Trace (5-1), while the Knights improved to 3-2. The victory avenged an 8-2 season-opening loss to Wayne Trace.

The Raiders enjoyed a 3-2 lead after one inning, but Crestview scored a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to lead 4-3, then added a run in the fifth to extend the advantage to 5-3. However, Wayne Trace plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-5 lead, but the Knights scored a run in the sixth and one more in the seventh – an RBI single by Korbin Hartman that plated Kole Small.

Hartman finished the game with three hits and four RBI, while Griffin Painter had a pair of hits and one RBI.

Hayden Gillett and Reid Miller each had two hits for Wayne Trace, while Grant Baumle led the Raiders with three RBI.

Riley Saylor and Painter combined for the win, with Saylor pitching 4.1 innings, striking out three and walking three, while Painter pitched the remainder of the game, notching a pair of strikouts.
