Church youth group visits N.C. Christian Camp

Twenty-two young people and four adults from the Liberty Baptist Church of Van Wert recently returned from The Wilds Christian Camp at Brevard, N.C., for a week of fun and spiritual refreshing.  This year marks the 17th year the church has sponsored a group of young people to make the 553-mile journey to this ruggedly beautiful 810-acre tract of land in Translvania County, N.C.

The Wilds Christian Camp and Conference Center began in the late 1960s.   A dedicated group of Christians gathered together led by Ken Hay. They realized that there was a great need for a camp, but this group had very few resources.  Fortunately, the group was given access to sizable funds at very low interest and they were able to purchase land and establish the camp.
