Van Wert’s girls’ tennis picked up a WBL win while the volleyball team fell at home and the soccer team lost on the road. Lincolnview’s soccer and golf teams were in action, and Crestview’s soccer game was suspended.

Tennis

Van Wert 5 Elida 0

Van Wert bounced back from Tuesday’s loss to Wapakoneta by cruising to a 5-0 win against Elida.

At first singles, Grace Young posted an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win against Ava Long, while Lizzie Rutkowski recorded an identical win over Rylie Mick at third singles. Allie Morrow notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over Maggie Little at second singles.

At first doubles, Paige Moonshower and Allie Etter defeated MacKenzie Savill and Keighley Eickholt 6-0, 6-1, and at second doubles, Kaylee Jennings and Jada Buckner topped Emily Bowers and Beatrice Yumul 6-1, 6-2.

“Tonight was a great bounce back win for us, coach Neal has a lot of young talent on that Elida roster, so they’ll be a fun team to compete with in the near future,” Van Wert head coach Eli Alvarez said. “Next week will be a tough stretch for us with four matches in four days, so it’s nice to end this week with a great all around team win. Along with the varsity, the JVs did great tonight as well. Those 14 girls continue to give me great confidence in this programs’ future.”

Van Wert (8-2, 6-1 WBL) will play at Bath on Monday.

Volleyball

St. Marys Memorial 3 Van Wert 1

Visiting St. Marys Memorial defeated Van Wert 25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20.

The loss dropped the Lady Cougars to 4-5 (0-3 WBL).

Marianna Ickes had 16 digs, while Jaylan Richard and Izzy Carr finished with 15 each. Katie Coplin and Finley Foster each had 14 assists, and Coplin and Rickard each had a dozen kills.

Van Wert will play at Wayne Trace on Monday.

Soccer

Lincolnview 3 Spencerville 3

Lincolnview and Spencerville played to a 3-3 tie, with Ethan Crow scoring two goals, and Justin Braun scoring the remaining goal.

The Lancers (1-5-1, 0-2-1 NWC) will play at Miller City at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Ottawa-Glandorf 14 Van Wert 0 (girls)

OTTAWA — The Lady Cougars lost at Ottawa-Glandorf 14-0.

Van Wert will host Shawnee on Tuesday.

Fort Jennings vs. Crestview (ppd)

CONVOY — Thursday night’s game was suspended due to severe weather. The game was tied 0-0. A makeup date has yet to be determined.

Golf

Bluffton 164 Allen East 171 Lincolnview 181 Crestview 212

At Hickory Sticks Golf Club, Bluffton topped Thursday’s NWC quad with a low score of 154.

Evan Miller led Lincolnview with a 42, followed by Landon Price and Avery Slusher (46) and Dane Ebel (47).

Crestview was led by Dillon Underwood’s 46, followed by Evan Scarlett (53), Tanner Myers (56), Will Sharpe (57) and Scotty Bowman (61).

Allen East’s Carter Frey was the match medalist with a score of 38.
