Tennis: Lexington tops Van Wert 4-1

LEXINGTON — After a lengthy road trip to southern Richland County, Van Wert fell to perennial power Lexington 4-1 on Wednesday.

The lone win for the Cougars came at second doubles, where Jace Fast and Nick Carter recorded a 1-6, 6-3, 10-6 victory.

At first singles, Lexington’s Blake Webster defeated Kannen Wannemacher 6-1, 6-2, and at second singles, Brenton Webster beat Zane Fast 6-2, 6-3. Ryan Mecurio won at third singles, topping Michael Hellman 6-4, 6-1.

Lexington’s first doubles team of Benton Drake and Ross Drlik defeated Kaden Thomas and Nathan Ruger 6-1, 6-0.

Van Wert (5-4) will travel to Defiance today.
