Braun is the Student Athlete of the Week

Van Wert High School senior Megan Braun is this week’s Van Wert independent/Northwest Ohio Welch Trophy Student Athlete of the Week. Braun, who was nominated by Van Wert track coach Mark Collins, just set a new county and school record in the long jump (18-3) and was part of the record breaking 4×100 meter relay team. “Megan has been a tremendous leader and member of our program since she arrived as a freshman,” Collins said. In addition to track, Braun played volleyball for the Lady Cougars. Coaches and athletic directors may nominate student athletes for the weekly award by emailing sports@thevwindependent.com.
