McClain, Dull top VW trooper, dispatcher

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Jana J. McClain has been selected the 2017 Trooper of the Year at the Van Wert post.

The selection of Trooper McClain, 45, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2017. Fellow officers stationed at the Van Wert post chose Trooper McClain based on her leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.

Trooper McClain joined the Patrol in 1993 as a member of the 125th class. Originally from Akron, Trooper McClain is a graduate of Field High School in Kent and attended Kent State University. She serves as a field training officer and has also been awarded the patrol’s physical fitness and safe driving awards.

Trooper McClain and her family reside in Paulding County.

Radio Dispatcher Pamela L. Dull has been selected the 2017 Dispatcher of the Year at the Van Wert dispatch center. Dull joined the Patrol in 2015 and is assigned to the Van Wert dispatch center.  She is a graduate of Ohio City Liberty High School and earned her EMT certification at Apollo Career Center.

Dull, 50, was honored in recognition of her outstanding service over the past year.  Supervision and dispatchers chose Dull based on her technical job knowledge and ability, enthusiastic work attitude, teamwork, and prompt and courteous response to the public’s request for information and assistance.

Dull and her family reside in Van Wert County.

Both McClain and Dull are in contention for district and state honors as Trooper of the Year and Dispatcher of the Year. Those honors will be announced at a later date.
