VW independent/submitted information

The YWCA of Van Wert County will be hosting its second annual Women of Achievement Scholarship Dinner on Thursday, May 3, at the YWCA.

Keynote speaker for this year’s event will be Ohio Fox News’ Cavaliers sidelines reporter Allie Clifton Kalsow.

Recognition for Women of Achievement will be given for the following categories: Professional Leadership, Advocacy, Women’s Empowerment, Racial Justice, Volunteerism, Youth Development, Civic Dedication, and Overcoming Adversity. Community members are encouraged to nominate a possible recipient that fulfills one or more of the core tenets of the YWCA’s mission as set forth above through her involvement in Van Wert and the surrounding communities.

Nomination forms can be picked up at the YWCA, found on the YWCA Facebook page, or requested via email. Note that the deadline to turn in Women of Achievement nomination forms is Friday, March 30.

General operating hours for the YWCA of Van Wert County are 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday. The facility is closed Saturday and Sunday, although members have 24/7 access to the health and fitness center.

The YWCA is partially funded by the Van Wert County Foundation and is a United Way agency. For more information about the event or about nominating someone, contact YWCA Advocacy Coordinator Kelly Houg at 419.238.6639 or khoug@ywcavanwertcounty.org.
