Van Wert at Wapakoneta Invitational

Led by Isaiah Bretz and Trevor Spridgeon, the Van Wert Cougars placed third at the 14 team Wapakoneta Invitational on Saturday.

Bretz captured the 140 pound weight class by pinning Sammy Elliston of Conner (KY) in 4:11, while Spridgeon won the 184 pound weight class by pinning Wesley Jeffries-Babcock of Napoleon in 4:40.

In addition, Lloyd Eutsler took second in the 197 pound weight class while Joshua Dorsch finished third at 122 pounds.

Others placing for Van Wert: Killian Suddith (6th, 108) Ben Lange (6th, 128), Ryan Pratt (4th, 154) and Spencer Blue (6th, 172).

Napoleon won the Invite with 350.5 points, followed by Wapakoneta (216) and Van Wert (183).

Lincolnview at Lima Central Catholic Invitational

Lincolnview Lancer wrestlers competed the LCC Invitational held Friday and Saturday at Lima Central Catholic High School.

In the opening round, Lincolnview’s Louis Ulery (182) was pinned by Allen East’s Garrett Neth in 54 seconds. After winning by forfeit in the second consolation round, Ulery was pinned by Justin Wieging of Delphos St. John’s in 3:32.

After a first round bye, Brok Bill of Lincolnview (170) was pinned by Wayne Trace’s Hunter Showalter in 59 seconds. In the second consolation round Bill lost by a technical fall (15-0) to Mikey Brzeczek of Woodmore.

In the 285 pound weight class, Lincolnview’s David Parsons had a first round bye, then was pinned by Allen East’s Brennan Davies in 4:49. Parsons was eliminated from the tournament after being pinned by Oak Harbor’s Jacob Ellithorpe (2:09) in the consolation round.
