ANTWERP — A strong all around game put the finishing touches on a successful weekend for the Lincolnview Lancers.

On the heels of a big win over Allen East on Friday, Lincolnview (8-5) held the host Antwerp Archers to single digits in three of four quarters and used balanced scoring to leave with a 56-30 non-conference win on Saturday night.

The game was tied at eight with 2:20 left in the first quarter, but the Lancers went on a 20-3 scoring run that carried deep into the second period. Alek Bowersock started the run with a triple, followed by a free throw and a buzzer beater by Caden Ringwald to put the Lancers up 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.

Ethan Kemler opened the second quarter with back-to-back buckets, then Zane Miller drained a three pointer that gave the Lancers a 21-8 lead just over three minutes into the period.

After a timeout, Antwerp’s Luke Brewer nailed a triple, but Ringwald hit two foul shots then Chayten Overholt and Bowersock each hit baskets to push Lincolnview’s lead to 28-11. Cole Seslar got the Archers (5-6) back on the board with a basket at the 1:39 mark, but Ringwald and Bowersock each connected from the floor to give Lincolnview a 32-13 halftime lead.

“I thought we did a fantastic job in the first half by forcing them into difficult shots and I thought we did a great job of forcing one shot and done,” Lincolnview head coach Brett Hammons said. “I think our defense led to a lot of our offense, getting out and running and getting easy baskets.”

Hammons also singled out the play of Kemler, who finished the night with 12 points, three rebounds and three blocked shots.

“He’s doing a very good job and he’s one of the leaders on the defense,” Hammons explained. “He’s a very intelligent basketball player and we continue to get the ball into him, I think it’s going to help our guards more.”

Brewer opened the third quarter with a bucket, but Tristin Miller countered with a basket, then Ringwald hit two more buckets to extend Lincolnview’s lead to 38-15. From there, the Lancers went on a 9-3 run, with Kemler, Overholt, Zane Miller and Ringwald accounting for Lincolnview’s points, while Antwerp mustered a free throw from Jayvin Landers and a basket by Ty Rebber.

With a 47-18 lead, a triple by Ringwald was sandwiched between two free throws by Rebber and triples by Landers and Brewer.

Fourth quarter scoring was sparse, with Overholt, Kemler and Jake Bowersock each hitting a basket to account for Lincolnview’s six points, while the Achers scored just four points on Blake Schuette’s bucket and free throws by Brewer and Jake Ryan.

Ringwald paced the Lancers with 16 points, including nine in the third quarter. Along with Kemler’s 12 points, Alek Bowersock and Zane Miller each had seven.

Brewer was the only Archer to reach double figures (11).

Lincolnview will host Delphos Jefferson on Friday and Parkway on Saturday. Antwerp will entertain Tinora on Friday and Holgate the following night.

“Friday night is going to be difficult when we go against Jefferson and we need to be prepared, then Parkway on Saturday,” Hammons said. “Our main goal is the Northwest Conference, so we need to get ready, try to stay at the top and get to 4-0 (NWC) on Friday night.”
