Van Wert CC teams fare well at WBL meet

LIMA — Van Wert’s boys finished second, and the girls placed sixth at the Western Buckeye League cross country meet held Saturday at Bath High School.

Van Wert freshman Jacob Wasson finished fourth with a time of 16:38, while teammate Cal Wolfrum placed sixth (17:05}. Gage Chiles finished eighth (17:27), Keaton Brown 18th (17:52), and Charlie Paquette 20th(17:54).

Defiance won the boys championship, followed by Van Wert, Ottawa-Glandorf, Shawnee, St. Marys, Celina, Wapakoneta, Elida, Bath and Kenton.

Defiance also won the girls championship, followed by Celina, St. Marys, Wapakoneta and Shawnee. Van Wert finished sixth, followed by Bath, Kenton, Ottawa-Glandorf and Elida.

Caylee Phillips was Van Wert’s top finisher, placing fifth with a time of 20:15. Jessica Huebner was 29th (22:34), Rachel Spath 32nd (22:51), Ali Gemmer 36th (23:09) and Kaylee Okuly 43rd (23:37).
