VWCS to have bond refinancing meeting

Submitted information

The Van Wert School District announced an upcoming $17 million bond offering that will be used to refinance bonds that were originally issued to pay the cost of constructing the high school/middle complex approved by voters on November 6, 2002. The bonds, to be issued by the district, will be traditional tax-exempt municipal bonds.

As a special arrangement made by the Van Wert City Board of Education, local residents will be given the opportunity to invest in the district by purchasing the bonds, which will be sold in increments of $5,000 and have maturities ranging from 1 to 14 years.

The District’s bond underwriter expects to make bonds available on September 20, 2016. Interest rates on the bonds will be determined on that date.

Those interested in learning more about the bond offering are encouraged to attend an informational meeting to be held at S.F. Goedde Building conference room, 205 W. Crawford St. in Van Wert, on Wednesday, September 14, starting at 6 p.m.

Questions on the meeting can be directed to District Treasurer Mike Ruen at 419.238.5432.
