Teen injured in county ATV accident

The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle injury crash that occurred on Bockey Road, just north of Carpenter Road, in Van Wert County.

osplogoAt approximately 9:04 p.m. Tuesday, a 1999 Honda ATV (four-wheeler) operated by Kaitlin E. Pohlman, 16, of Delphos, was traveling south on Bockey Road and she failed to maintain control of the vehicle, which then went off the left side of the roadway. The driver and a passenger were both thrown from the ATV.

Pohlman sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and was transported by Samaritan Life-Flight to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The passenger, Tristine F. Lehmkuhle, also 16, of Delphos, was not injured.

Neither occupant was wearing a helmet or other safety equipment. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, Middle Point Fire and EMS, and Parker Mace Towing also assisted the Patrol at the accident scene.
