Twig groups donate $19,200 to hospital

VW independent/submitted information

On June 27, the All‐Twig Board of Van Wert County Hospital presented the hospital with a check for $19,200. This donation is used to support patient‐centered initiatives.

This year, the Twigs decided to use the money to purchase updated mammography software for the Radiology Department. This software helps the radiologist and physicians closely review mammogram studies. The remaining monies will be put toward the cost of a new central monitoring system for the Obstetrics
Department.

“For over fifty years, the Twig group members have been raising money for the good of the hospital and community,” said Sharon Witten, All Twig Board president. “We have an amazing group of women participating in various Twig projects, as we support each other in friendship and giving.”

Twig groups I and II manage the Hospital Thrift Shop on Central Avenue, which also sells new RADA cutlery, while Twig group II also sells poinsettias and will be taking orders in November and December again this year. Twig group III manages the Hospital Gift Shop and Tree of Lights community project at Christmas time.

New members are always encouraged to join and share their talents and passions with other volunteers. Each group meets once a month and enjoys learning about hospital department services as well as community group resources.
