The board gave Krista Seibert a one-year extended service supplemental contract as vocational agriculture Career Tech instructor, approved an administrative contract for Brenda Eickholt, approved a tutoring supplemental contract for Sandra Dowdy, and approved a personal service contract for Sean Beck as an assistant high school instrumental instructor.

The board also accepted the resignation of Zachary Profit as eighth grade boys’ basketball coach and Trina Langdon as girls’ varsity cross country coach and approved the following advancements on the district salary schedule: Christina Wendel to master’s degree plus 15 hours; Adam Owens, master’s degree plus 15 hours; Hollie Ford, master’s degree plus 30 hours.

Denise Cramer was also hired as a substitute bus driver.

Lincolnview Treasurer Troy Bowersock noted that district revenues and expenditures were within an average of 2 percent of estimates for the year to date. He also said taxes over a 10-year period have been “fairly stagnant,” and also noted he is currently working on an update of the district’s five-year plan that he plans to submit to the board at its September meeting.

Superintendent Jeff Snyder thanked Central Mutual Insurance Company for a summer tech camp it sponsored that several Lincolnview students attended.

“I went to an afternoon session and was blown away with what those kids could do,” Snyder said. “I’m sure many companies would like to hire them now because of the skills that they have now, yet these are only junior high kids. I can’t imagine what they can do in the next four years.”

Also during his report, Snyder talked briefly about a new LED light to be installed at the front of the school complex, and also noted that new band uniforms are now ready to be used.

He also noted that new career preparedness program is being implemented in the high school during the upcoming school year.

Also Tuesday, the board accepted a $4,500 donation from the Van Wert County Foundation for the Lincolnview music department.

In other action, the board:

  • Approved transportation contracts for Linda Homan and Christopher Woods.
  • Renewed membership in the Equity and Adequacy Coalition.
  • Approved a Fiscal Year 2017 agreement for vision impaired, orientation, and mobility services.
  • Authorized a contact with Interstate Gas Supply Inc.
  • Approved a contract with Julian & Grube Inc. as a third-party Medicaid administrator.
  • Approved a list of open enrollment students for the coming school year.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Lincolnview Local Board of Education will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, in the Neubrecht Lecture Hall.
