Bernice I. Myers

Bernice I. Myers, 86, of Vancrest Health Care Center, and formerly of Van Wert, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born June 13, 1929, in Grover Hill, the daughter of Clyde and Bertha (Martz) Crone, who both preceded her in death. On June 30, 1956, she married Harvey D. Myers, who survives.

Mrs. Myers was a homemaker and retired in 1991 after 13 years of service at Kennedy Manufacturing Company in Van Wert. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert and was a member of the church’s visitation group. She also volunteered at the Visiting Nurses Association’s Adult Day Care and hospice.

In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Forrest “Brooks” (Nancy) Myers of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Randy (Betty) Myers of Van Wert, and Mark Myers of South Orange, New Jersey; six granddaughters, Heidi Myers, Laurie (Justin) Summerall, Krista (Chad) Schlemmer, Amy (Nathan) Amstutz, Brooke (Marcus) Meyer, and Megan Myers; seven great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 10, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with Pastor Scott Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at the funeral home.
