Barbara J. Miller Whitley

Barbara J. Miller Whitley, 58, passed away at the University of Michigan Medical Center on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. She resided in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with her niece, and previously lived in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, and Douglas, Georgia.

She was born August 24, 1957, in Van Wert, to the late June and Robert Miller of Van Wert. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra K. Myers of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Barbara earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, and her Master of Arts degree at Southern University in Douglas, Georgia. She taught in elementary schools in the Douglas area, retiring a couple years back, and moving to South Carolina.

She leaves behind her niece, Sara Myers; a brother-in-law, David Myers of Fort Wayne; and her little buddy, “Sparky”. Also surviving are several family members in the local area and friends from far away and local.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

She wished to be cremated and remains interred with family in Ohio.
