Photo club will tour vintage photo studio

By Rex Dolby

The Van Wert Area Photography Club’s next regularly scheduled meeting  on Thursday, May 12, promises to be at least two steps above exceptional. President Jewett reports that he spoke with Jim Niedecken, who owns the vintage photography studio above Millie’s Cafe in Ottoville.  The studio was started by Jim’s great grandfather in the 1890’s.  He passed it on to his grandfather, and eventually it became his father’s to operate until the mid 50s.

All the original equipment is still in place and should provide some interesting subjects to photograph.

Stuart would like to invite all paid members to meet at 114 S. Race St. at 5:30 p.m. to make transportation arrangements (it should take just a touch over 20 minutes to drive).

After the tour of the old photography shop, we’d have our meeting at 7 p.m. downstairs at Millie’s (141 W. Canal St., Ottoville) where we can all enjoy dinner (or whatever) together and discuss what we just experienced.
