Partnership to provide transportation

VW independent/submitted information

Through a continued partnership with United of Way of Van Wert County, Van Wert County Council on Aging is able to continue to offer transportation to those under the age of 60.

According to the United Way, transportation is one of the largest growing requests it receives from those needing services. With the Council on Aging having an established transportation program in place, being able to offer these trips to those under age 60 was a natural fit.

The program is offered to those with a disability, medical issue, or extreme hardship in their lives. The program is completely funded by the supportive community members who give financial support to the United Way. Funds for the program are limited, however, and priority is given to those with medical issues. Trips are limited to essential type appointments, such as doctor’s visits, pharmacy, grocery stores, banking, and other similar type trips.

Scheduling an appointment is as simple as calling the Council on Aging at 419.238.5011. The Van Wert County Council on Aging is partially funded by a grant from the Van Wert County Foundation and the United Way.
