Open house set for Convoy Opera House

CONVOY — An open house of the Convoy Opera House will be held from 2-4 p.m. this Sunday, May 22, at 111 S. Main St. in Convoy. The opera house is on the second floor of the building, and at this time it is not handicap-accessible. Refreshments will be provided.

The restoration project of the Convoy Opera House will allow the venue to be used for special events, parties, movies, plays, and meetings in the future. The Convoy Historical Society has been awarded $60,000 from the State Capital Improvement Fund to begin the project. Renovations needed include drywall, plaster patching, painting, HVAC system, windows, floor refinishing, electrical and lighting, sound system, and seating.

Membership in the Convoy Historical Society membership is open to anyone interested in the promotion and preservation of the village’s history and culture. Membership cost is $20 (member), $50 (patron) and $100 (sponsor). The memberships will support operations of the Convoy Historical Society and are tax deductible.

Donations will also be accepted for the restoration project and are tax deductible. Those interested may drop off or mail membership fees or donations to US Bank, P.O. Box 8, Convoy, OH 45832, made payable to “Village of Convoy Historical Society”.
