Council on Aging to host Medicare event

COLUMBUS — Lieutenant Governor and the Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor announced the Ohio Senior Health Information Program (OSHIIP) will hold a “Welcome to Medicare” event in Van Wert County on Wednesday, May 18, at 6 p.m. at the Van Wert County Council on Aging, 220 Fox Road.

The event will help new and soon-to-be beneficiaries understand the basics of Medicare and provides an opportunity for people to learn about the benefits provided by Medicare and important deadlines that must be met.

In addition, specifics will be provided about Medicare Advantage plans, supplemental health insurance, prescription drug coverage, and financial assistance programs to help beneficiaries pay Medicare’s Part B premium and prescription drug out-of-pocket expenses.
