VWHS students head to state
Out of 6,000 engineering and biomedical plans judged in Ohio, three teams from Van Wert High School engineering and biomedical programs have advanced to state competition May 7 in Columbus. The VWHS teams moving on and their project titles are: Sadie Zartman and Doug Billingham, ”Light-Up Motion Sensor Outlet Cover”; Domonique Grothause and Katie Trittschuh, ”Electronic Patient Information Circlet”; and Nick White and Nick Gorman, ”A Safe Route To School”. The Believe in Ohio Program is a student entrepreneurship program to develop Ohio’s next generation of STEM innovators. The centerpiece of the program is writing a STEM commercialization or business plan. Teachers Kathleen Overmyer and Bob Spath are excited to have students competing at the state level for college scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $20,000.
