Sterling K. McMichael

Sterling K. McMichael of Van Wert died at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born June 21, 1961, in Karlsruhe, Germany, the son of Lloyd L. and Waltraud “Wally” (Debatin) McMichael, who both preceded him in death. He married the former Aida DeLeon, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include four children, Kristina (Mark) Love of Rushville, Indiana, Chuck (Lesa) McMichael of Greenfield, Indiana, Travis (Kim) McMichael of Rushville, Indiana, and Cari McMichael of Van Wert; two stepchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Kreischer and Marissa Kreischer, both of Van Wert; three brothers, Lloyd (Tonda) McMichael Jr., Frank L. McMichael, and Robert R. (Dana) Debatin, all of Van Wert; a sister, Sandra B. (Steve) Parker of Van Wert; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Sterling worked at Lakeview Farms in Delphos. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 Auxiliary. He loved fishing, camping, his dogs, gardening, and, most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the funeral home.
