Mildred L. Baxter

Mildred L. Baxter, 90, of Rockford, and a former longtime resident of Wren, died Friday, April 15, 2016, at Colonial Nursing Center.

She was born March 7, 1926, in Kokomo, Indiana, the daughter of Alexander and Helen (Gribler) Pierce, who both preceded her in death. She was raised by Leroy and Sarah Kreischer, who also preceded her in death. On August 29, 1948, she married James C. Baxter at St. Paul Reformed Church and he died October 9, 1991.

Survivors include a son, Donald E. (Marilyn) Baxter of Willshire; four sisters, Dorothy (George) Wooley of Kokomo, Indiana; Eloise (Michael) Biro of Van Wert, Donna Githens of Wren and Nancy Etzler of Bowling Green; two grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Three sons, Roger, Terry, and Larry Baxter; a daughter, Debbie Baxter; and two grandchildren, Karmen and Tina Baxter, also preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at St. Paul Reformed Church, with the Rev. Chad Strabbing officiating.

Visitation will be an hour prior to services Sunday at the church.
