VW independent/submitted information

The YMCA of Van Wert County is excited to announce the expansion of its 24/7 facility for qualifying members. An additional 20,000 square feet of gymnasium space will available 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

The Y opened its Senior/Handicap/After-Hours Access Area in 2012, which allows for easy entrance for seniors and physically disabled patrons, as well as provides unlimited access to qualifying members in certain areas of the Y 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

The additional 20,000 square feet of gym space will be in addition to men’s and women’s ADA-approved bathroom facilities, 1,400 square feet of circuit and cardio fitness equipment, 1,100 square feet of machine and free weights and nearly 10,000 square feet of gym space.

The YMCA has been in Van Wert for over 100 years and has continued to adjust to the needs of the membership and the community. What started as a very simple swim and gym YMCA has grown to include five gymnasiums, numerous workout rooms, a spinning studio, X-tra fit gym, a cardio fitness floor, weight room, massage therapy, tanning salon and hydro massage therapy bed, a yoga room, the only full size swimming pool in the area, and the complete Camp Clay facility, including an aqua park with splash pad.

“Being able to offer 24/7 facility access to our members has been an invaluable addition to our YMCA facility, says YMCA Executive Director Hugh Kocab. “Opening up this additional gymnasium space allows additional family fitness opportunities for our expanding membership base. We are committed to helping everyone achieve their sport and fitness goals.”

Information about 24/7 access and other programs available at the Van Wert YMCA can be found by calling 419.238.0443 or visiting the Y’s website at www.vwymca.org. Membership opportunities and inquiries may be directed to YMCA Membership Director Kristin Lichtensteiger, by calling the Y, or emailing Kristin@vwymca.org. The YMCA of Van Wert County is partially funded by the Van Wert County Foundation and United Way.
