Harold E. Murphy

Harold E. Murphy, 82, of Van Wert, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:46 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

He was born January 28, 1934, in Van Wert, the son of Clarence “Bud” and Ruby (Johnson) Murphy, who both preceded him in death. He married Helen (Shaw) Murphy, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include two children, Mickey (Jodi) Murphy and Angie Murphy, both of Van Wert; one brother, the Rev. Bobby (Jill) Murphy of Poland (Ohio); two sisters, Mary Agler of Van Wert and Dottie Dipple of Convoy; three grandchildren, Nehemiah (Damaris) Murphy, Malachi Murphy, and Millicent Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.

A brother, Danny Murphy; and one brother-in-law, Jim Alger, also preceded him in death.

Harold retired from Aeroquip Corporation in Van Wert in 1992. He was a member of Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert, where he held various positions in the church. Harold had a passion for Trinity Friends Church and was a Prayer Warrior there. He also volunteered with the Van Wert High School Athletic Department and ran the football score clock for 40 years. He was an avid New York Yankees and Indiana Hoosiers fan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Trinity Friends Church, with the Revs. Steve Savage and Steve Heilshorn officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
