WAPAKONETA — The Ohio Forestry Association and the Northwest Ohio Loggers Chapter will be hosting a Woodland Field Day on Saturday, March 19, beginning at 8 a.m. The event will be held at 15255 Fox Ranch Road in Wapakoneta.

For area residents interested in growing trees, providing wildlife cover, and enhancing their property with birds, deer, and turkeys, this field day will cover this and more. Other issues being addressed are Christmas tree production, invasive plants to western Ohio, and invasive pests, such as gypsy moth and walnut twig beetle infestations.

Organizations on hand to present information will include the West Central Ohio Conservancy; Auglaize County Soil and Water Conservation District; Auglaize County Pheasants Forever; Reforestation and Wildlife Services; a service forester from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Forestry program; Northwest Ohio Woodland Owners Association; Sudoff Tree Farms, a Christmas tree grower; the Auglaize County game warden; and a representative from the United States Department of Agriculture speaking about walnut twig beetle, gypsy moths, and other invasive pests, plus information about invasive plants in Ohio. A representative from the Audubon Society will also participate.

For those interested in preserving the future of woodlands and wildlife in western Ohio, the field day will address issues important to that preservation. In addition, there will also be a sawmill demonstration.

These professionals will be on hand to address the above topics and answer any questions those attending may have.
