Velma Louise Schumm

Velma Louise Schumm, 101, died Saturday, February 6, 2016, at The Laurels of Shane Hill near Rockford.

She was born June 18, 1914, near Rockford, the daughter of Phillip F.M. and Leona B. (Schumm) Schumm, who both preceded her in death.

Survivors include a sister, Emma S. Boerger of Decatur, Indiana; eight nephews and nieces; and numerous grand- and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Two sisters, Marie M. Fuelling and Anna K. Bischoff, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 11, at Zion Lutheran Church near Willshire, with Pastor Jeffery Patterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Preferred memorials: Zion Lutheran Church or Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
