Do you have jeans that don’t fit or that aren’t your favorite pair and never get worn? We want them! Lincolnview Jr. High Student Council is collecting gently used jeans for “Teens for Jeans.” Teens for Jeans is a project that collects jeans for homeless people across North America. The reason they collect jeans is because they are one of the most requested items at homeless shelters. Jeans are durable and can be worn more than once without needing to be washed. They also make the homeless feel like they don’t stand out as much and give them a sense of normalcy. Our goal is to collect 200 pairs of jeans. They can be any size. Please turn them in by Friday, February 19. The jeans can be dropped off at the high school office or to teachers Sandy Dowdy or Beth Schnipke in their classrooms. The student council would like to thank Stephanie Longwell for introducing them to this project and for allowing them to partner with her.

The fifth and sixth grade bands are progressing in their studies of music and the production of sound on their instruments. The fifth grade is continuing to learn new rhythms and notes. They are also beginning to develop dynamics and learning key terms such as tempo markings. The sixth grade has just begun book two of their three book series and are reviewing along with learning sixteenth note rhythms. Both groups are also preparing for their spring concert, which will take place in the high school gymnasium on Friday, May 13, beginning at 7 p.m.
