Mendon Road house fire

Two adults and two children were left homeless, while one family member was treated for smoke inhalation as a result of a fire at a residence on Mendon Road that occurred early this morning. Pet birds in the residence were also affected by the smoke. Fire departments from Ohio City, Wren, Van Wert, and Mendon were called to the scene of the fire, which occurred at approximately 4:30 this morning. Deputies from the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office were also on hand to provide traffic control, while the Van Wert County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and AEP were also at the scene.
