Knights finish semester strong

By Haley Helm

As the semester comes to an end, students are busy preparing for exams taking place next week, Jan. 18-22. Students will have two exams each day, and no other tests or quizzes will be allowed during that week. “Exams always stress me out so I will be relieved when they are over with,” said Nick Henry.

National Honor Society students have been preparing to host Crestview’s annual blood drive coming up on Jan. 26. It will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church right outside of Convoy.  Many students at Crestview will be taking the time out of their day to give blood. A shuttle will be provided by the school in order to get students from the school to the church in time to donate. “I am looking forward to getting out of school for a while and being able to save lives for this good cause,” said Kristen Etzler. She is a first time donor who is nervous but excited to be doing this.

Although the winter sports season is still very much underway, spring sports are also beginning to prepare for their upcoming season. The track team has had their first meeting earlier this week and have also begun some workouts after school. Crestview has a program called SWEAT, run by the head track coach, Mr. James Lautzenheiser, for any students not in a winter sport. They run, lift weights, and do other workouts three days a week after school.

The baseball and softball teams have been having open gyms on Sunday afternoons and hitting after school during the week. They both have been working hard this off season to be as successful as they can be in the spring. “Since I’m not in a winter sport, I like to go to as many open gyms as I can so I won’t be too rusty when the season begins,” said Tianna Rager.
