Donald Ray Miller

Donald Ray Miller, 83, of Van Wert, passed away at 12:06 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born June 5, 1932, in Middle Point, a son of Earl and Pearl (Daring) Miller, who both preceded him in death. On July 19, 1963, he married Margaret “Peg” Miller, who also preceded him in death.

Survivors include three children, Dorothy E. “Dot” (Glen) Mason-Markley of Van Wert, Robert “Bob” Mason of Convoy, and Vickie A. (Gary) Pugsley of Mesa, Arizona; a brother, Curtis F. Miller of Van Wert; six grandchildren, American Flag for obituaries 6-2011Donald L. “Don” Mason of Van Wert, Christal R., (Rudy) Pugsley-Munguia of Reynoldsburg, Gary W. (Kris) Pugsley Jr. of Scottsdale, Arizona, Kris T. Markley of Van Wert, and Jessica K. (Brian) Stotz, and Tyler J. Mason, both of Moab, Utah; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Holly Mason; one daughter-in-law, Angie Mason; four brothers, Earl, LeRoy, Bob, and Oscar Miller; and a sister, Lola Thatcher, also preceded her in death.

Donald was a retired tool and die maker at Kennedy Manufacturing in Van Wert. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Korean Conflict, and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a life member of the United Steelworkers Union, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, and American Legion Post 178, both in Van Wert.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 22, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, at the funeral home, where military honors will be rendered by honors units of Legion Post 178 and VFW Post 5803 at 4 p.m. that afternoon.
