Carl Girod

Carl Girod of Plant City, Florida, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at his residence.

He was born April 22, 1940, in Van Wert, to Lloyd and Florence (Ladd) Girod, who both preceded him in death. He wife, Linda (Bowers) Girod, survives in Plant City. They were married December 9, 1960.

Other survivors include two sons, Rick Girod of Grover Hill and Gary (Debra) Girod of Florida; grandchildren Naya Girod, Stacy Girod, Sara Phlipot, Ricky Girod, Kasey Girod, and Jessica Girod; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Evelyn Pugh of Van Wert.

Two brothers, Gary Girod and Daryl Girod, also preceded him in death.

Carl was involved in the automotive and trucking industry and also owned and operated campgrounds. He owned and enjoyed classic cars and car shows.

Carl was an outstanding husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. We will miss him every day.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, at Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Van Wert County Farm Bureau food stand or the American Cancer Society.
