VW boys 6th, girls 11th at Celina meet

Van Wert swim team information

CELINA — The Van Wert Cougar swim team traveled to Celina for the annual Celina Sprint invitational involving 15 teams, including six Western Buckeye League schools. The Van Wert boys took fourth place, while the girls finished 11th.

Celina took first place for the boys and Versailles took first place for the girls. Other schools participating included Bellefontaine, Ottawa-Glandorf, Fort Recovery, Coldwater, New Bremen, Minster, St. Marys Memorial, St. Henry, Elida, Botkins, Bath, and Marion Local.

Highlights of the boys’ day included Sam Easley scoring in three events; he earned a first place ranking in the 50-yard butterfly and 50-yard backstroke, with a second place ranking in the 50-yard freestyle. Cade Fleming scored points for the Cougars with his 15th place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke.  Scoring for the Cougar Girls was Peyton Fleming, with her 15th place finish, in the 50-yard breaststroke.

The next meet for the Cougars will be a dual meet at the Van Wert YMCA, against Kenton on December 8.
