New fire truck

New Wren fire truck 12-2015

Wren Fire Department recently took ownership of a 2016 Freightliner tanker/pumper truck manufactured by Midwest Fire in Luverne, Minnesota. The vehicle, made possible by a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA, was driven by Tom Acheson and Mike Marchek from the factory and arrived in Wren Saturday night. The new truck can transport and dump up to 3,000 gallons of water, using either a chute in the rear of the tank or two 36-inch telescoping chutes on the street and curb sides of the truck. The truck can also be used as a pumper in extreme situations where extra fire suppression is needed. Wren firefighters and truck design committee (Marchek, Acheson, Rick High, Andy O’Hagan, Chris High, and Craig “Gep” Meyer) will begin training on the tanker so it can be placed in service as soon as possible.
