Betty Louise (Coats) Joseph Coombs

Betty Louise (Coats) Joseph Coombs, 85, of Rockford and formerly of Celina, died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.

She was born August 5, 1930, in Mercer County, the daughter of Howard Franklin and Mildred Leona (Roberts) Coats, who both preceded her in death. On October 18, 1993, she married Thomas Richard Coombs, who preceded her in death on March 1, 2002.

Survivors include two children, Terry Lee (Mary Jo) Joseph of Rockford and Gloria Joseph of Decatur, Indiana; four brothers, Howard (Joan) Coats of Sebring, Florida, and Dallas Coats, Paul (Vivian) Coats, and James J. (Bonnie) Coats, all of Celina; a sister, Barbara (Bill) Doty of Wapakoneta; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Coats of Texas.

Two brothers, Irvin Coats and Don Coats; and a sister, Joyce Ward, also preceded her in death.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 10, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Casey Nuttle officiating. Burial will follow in Friends Chapel Cemetery in Tama.
