VWCHS sets ‘Night at Museum’ schedule

The Van Wert County Historical Society recently announced its plans for November’s “Night at the Museum” event and a tentative schedule for 2016.

Once again, the Historical Society is offering an ornament class as November’sNight at the Museum” activity. The class will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Museum Annex, while Rachel Taylor, Jayne Smith, and Fran Neiswander will lead the evening’s activities.

The cost to make three ornaments is $10. Class size is limited, so area residents will want to sign up soon. Call 419.749.2476 to register. Registration is complete upon receipt of payment.

A Crafters’ Christmas Party is scheduled for Tuesday, December 8; more information will be forthcoming soon.

The tentative schedule for 2016 is:

  • March – “Eggs-travaganza”, a demonstration by Fran Neiswander.
  • April – “Spring Cards” – demonstration by Heidi Leiendecker.
  • May – “Paper Flowers” – demonstration by Fran Neiswander.
  • June – “Miniature Gardens” (fairy garden)
  • July – “Miniature Barn Quilts” – demonstration by Fran Neiswander.
  • August – “Felting”
  • September – “Fall Leaf Art” – miscellaneous techniques, incuding gelli plate card, melted crayon leaves, hammered leaf designs – demonstration by Fran Neiswander.
  • October – “Out of Your Gourd”
  • November – “Christmas Ornaments” – demonstration by Fran Neiswander or anyone interested in demonstrating homemade ornament techniques.
  • December – “Arm Scarves/Crafters’ Christmas Party” – demonstration by Carol and Michelle Williams.

The Historical Society is seeking instructors for the classes “Miniature Gardens”, “Out of Your Gourd”, and “Felting”. Those interested in teaching, or who know of someone who might be interested, are asked to call the above telephone number.
