Van Wert SWCD holds annual meeting

The Van Wert Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) held its 66th Annual Meeting on Thursday at Vantage Career Center in Van Wert.

An election was held for two supervisors’ positions on the SWCD Board of Supervisors, with Dick Rice and Darryl Ricketts elected to serve three-year terms commencing January 1, 2016.

Elegant Beginnings provided dinner, while Craig Higbie provided a conservation report of programs provided through the SWCD.

Katie Vorst was the recipient of the scholarship award, while Harting Farms was recognized by the district and received the “Conservation Award”. This award is given to honor individuals and organizations for their conservation achievements.

A drawing was held for door prizes provided by First Federal Savings & Loan, First Bank of Berne, Ag Credit, Williamson Insurance, Scott Equity, Baughman Tile, Greve Chrysler and StateWide Ford, Van Wert Auto, and Van Wert Propane.
