New OB-GYN physician comes to VW area

Van Wert Medical Services announces the addition of Alberto Delgado, M.D., to its team as an obstetrics and gynecology physician.

Delgado had been working at Van Wert Medical Services since June as a locum physician, but became an employed physician on October 5.

“The patients, my co-workers and the community members I have worked with during my time here have been more than welcoming and a pleasure to work with and care for,” Dr. Delgado said. “I look forward to meeting more people in the community as I settle down with my family to make Van Wert my home.”

Dr. Delgado attended Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where he received his doctorate of medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Wayne State University’s Hutzel Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, from 2003 to 2007.

Since then, Dr. Delgado has worked in obstetrics and gynecology at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Georgia, Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin, Georgia, and Mercy Regional Hospital in Lorain.

“I have worked in a variety of environments throughout my schooling and career,” Delgado said. “My experience will help me better serve my patients here in Van Wert and I hope my knowledge and experience will help to continue the mission of Van Wert Medical Services.”

By joining the obstetrics and gynecology team at Van Wert Medical Services, Dr. Delgado has committed to the department’s goal of staying up to date with the latest developments in women’s healthcare to provide quality patient care in the community.

“Dr. Delgado has already proven he is a great asset to Van Wert Medical Services in the short time he has been here,” said Dr. Jennifer Hohman, medical staff president at Van Wert County Hospital. “He truly cares about his patients and their well-being.
