Lincolnview students and staff are honoring veterans and current members of the military with activities this week. Wednesday was hat day for students with many students donating $1 for the privilege of wearing their favorite hat to support active troops. Staff members donated $5 each for the privilege of wearing jeans for the same cause.

Friday, Nov. 13 will be the annual Veterans’ Appreciation Day when the entire school pauses to honor and show appreciation to family members and friends of the school for serving in the Armed Forces. Stephanie Renner is again in charge of the program which begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Lincolnview High School Gym. All veterans are invited to attend, and the public is welcome.

Art students in the 6th grade have been using their iPads to research ideas of peace and sharing for the annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. The contest gives students the opportunity to learn about the importance of peace, tolerance and international understanding. The poster contest encourages students to think about peace and creatively express what it means to them.
