Dean E. Stemen

Dean E. Stemen, 76, of Middle Point, died at 12:26 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born February 26, 1939, in Van Wert, the son of David and Thelma (Tabler) Stemen, who both preceded him in death. On June 20, 1959, he married Judy A. (Wortman) Stemen, who died April 11, 1982. On September 28, 1984, he married Shirley M. (Riley) Wortman Stemen, who survives in Middle Point.

Survivors include six children, Rick Stemen of Van Wert, David (Kristina) Stemen of Rockford, Debra (Dieter) Trilus of Rossville, Indiana, Barry Wortman of Perry, Georgia, Jane (Kent) Schmid of Van Wert and Kerry Arthur, no address listed.

13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Kathryn Snyder and Phyllis Stemen, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 7, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County, with graveside military honors rendered by combined units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 3-7 p.m. Friday, November 6, at the funeral home.
