VW independent/submitted information

A fashion show featuring local celebrity models will be held at Wassenberg Art Center on Monday, November 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event features a full runway and entertainment by Kim Hohman’s DanceWorks and Van Wert High School Select Choir, while MOD Boutique provides the clothing being modeled. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at MOD Boutique or Van Wert Manor.

A complimentary lunch of beef tips in gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, garden salad, cole slaw, roll, and dessert is included.

Fashions will be modeled by Shenett DeWitt of Van Wert Manor, Stacey Baer of Shultz Huber & Associates, Leah Treece of Purmort Brothers Insurance, Denae Bishop of Once I Was, Susan Munroe of the Van Wert Area Chamber of Commerce, YWCA Executive Director Kimberly Laudick, Dr. Rebecca Adams of Van Wert Family Physicians, Erika Wise of the Chamber of Commerce, Vickie Schulte of Once I Was, retired Van Wert teacher Christine Heizman, Kim Hohman of Kim Hohman’s DanceWorks, and Vantage Career Center Superintendent Staci Kaufman.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to “Blessings in a Backpack,” a non-profit organization that feeds school children in the United States who are currently fed during the week on the federally funded Free and Reduced Meal Program and are at risk of going hungry on the weekends.

The program works with elementary school children whose families cannot afford enough food. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program.

This is a Van Wert High School Senior Project.
