VW independent/submitted information

The All-Twig Board of Van Wert Hospital recently presented the hospital with a check for $23,527.31, which is used to support patient-centered initiatives.

This year, the Twigs have approved the purchase of a Patient Monitor with EKG Capability for the Surgery Recovery Room, two endoscopy carts for the Health Center Surgery center, and assistance with the purchase of a blood plasma refrigerator for the Laboratory.

“For over fifty years, the Twig group members have been raising monies for the good of the hospital and community,” said All-Twig Board President Sharon Witten. “We have an amazing number of women participating in various Twig projects, as we support each other in friendship and giving. “

Witten also thanked Twig IV members for their many years of service.

“They have done RADA cutlery sales, Christmas poinsettias, and monthly projects for the benefit of the hospital,” Witten noted. “We are sorry to have had the group dissolve at the beginning of the year due to declining participating memberships.

“We salute them for all of their hard work accomplished with only a remaining few members’ efforts,” she said, adding that the other Twig groups would continue with some of their community projects.

Twig groups I and II manage the Hospital Thrift Shop on Central Avenue, handling and selling gently used clothing and household small items and linens at a very reasonable price. They are now also handling  the RADA cutlery sales in the shop.

Twig group III manages the Hospital Gift Shop and Tree of Light community project at Christmas.  Members of Twig II group are also undertaking the poinsettia sales for merchants and community clients this year, and will be taking orders in November for December delivery.

New members are always encouraged to join and share their talents and passions with other volunteers in friendship and fellowship.

Each group meets once a month and enjoys learning about hospital department services, as well as community group resources.
