Thomas R. Hoff

Thomas R. “Tom” Hoff, 57, of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Monday October 19, 2015, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born September 4, 1958, in Napoleon, the son of Richard H. Hoff, who preceded him death, and Eunice (Benien) Thompson, who survives in Elk Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Van Wert High School and received a degree in respiratory therapy from the University of Toledo.

Tom married the former Lori L. Lawrence on December 19, 1997, in Fremont, and she survives. He was currently working as a respiratory therapist at Tiffin Mercy Hospital and also owned TNL Handyman Service.

Tom was an organ donor and avid sports fan, especially baseball. Tom also enjoyed golfing, fishing, doing handyman work around his home and helping others. He was everyone’s go-to man and he always helped with a smile on his face. He was the rock of the family and loved the outdoors and animals.

Other survivors include two children, Bethany (Adam) White of Toledo and Laurel (Jeff) Hartwig of Danville; five siblings, Steve (Kathy) Hoff and Dan Hoff, both of Phoenix, Arizona, Diane (Pat) Ryan of Van Wert, Dave (Jana) Thompson of Convoy, and Bruce (Sandra) Thompson of Gainesville, Florida; a sister-in-law, Beth Lawrence of Fremont; two brothers-in-law, Luke (Sue) and Tim (Bonnie) Lawrence; and his pets, Spook, Zoe, and Maggie.

A granddaughter, Eva Katherine White; his stepfather, Roger K. Thompson Jr.; and his mother-in-law, Rita Lawrence, also preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, October 23, at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. in Fremont, with Pastor Joseph Lees officiating.

Calling hours are from 2-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
