Lady Cougars win volleyball sectional title

Van Wert volleyball information

The Van Wert varsity volleyball team beat Wauseon in the Division II sectional finals in four sets: 25-20, 25-18, 19-25 and 25-22.

For Van Wert serving, Ella Butler was 23/24 with five aces; Megan Spray was 15/15 with one ace; and Domonique Grothause was 12/13 with two aces.

Megan Spray was 87/88 setting, with 33 assists. Landrie Koontz led the team with 13 kills, while Emma Kohn, Peyton Fleming and Butler added 9, 8, and 7 kills, respectively.

Kohn had nine digs, while Grothause added five. Fleming had nine blocks, with Spray and Butler contributing four blocks apiece.

Van Wert moves to 7-17 on the season and will continue tournament play on Tuesday, October 27, at Bluffton University. The match will begin at 6:15 p.m.
