Jefferson dominates Crestview in NWC win

CONVOY — The Delphos Jefferson Wildcats scored the first seven touchdowns of the game and then coasted in the fourth quarter to defeat Crestview 57-14 in a Northwest Conference game played Friday at Crestview.

Hunter Binkley, who led the Jeffcats in rushing with 155 yards on 22 carries, scored four touchdowns in the game, while Jace Stockwell passed for two more TDs for Delphos. Jefferson compiled 431 yards of total offense, including 301 yards on the ground, in the win, while the Wildcat defense held Crestview to 166 yards of total offense, all but 10 of those on the ground.

The scoring began with a 3-yard touchdown run by Binkley, while Gage Mercer kicked the extra point for a 7-0 Jefferson lead against Crestview with 10:57 remaining.

The Wildcats scored again with 4:51 left in the first quarter when Brenen Auer ran the ball in from the 1. Mercer kicked the PAT and it was 14-0, Delphos.

Jefferson’s next score came on a 9-yard run by Binkley with 11:55 remaining in the second quarter. The PAT kick failed and it was 20-0, Jefferson.

Stockwell then passed for two touchdowns, a 14-yarder to Mike Cline to make it 26-0 and a 5-yard pass to Ryan Georgens with 26 seconds left in the half. Stockwell passed for the PAT following the Cline score and Mercer kicked the PAT for the second TD, making it 35-0, Jefferson.

Delphos Jeff’s next two scores came on 33-yard runs by Binkley, while Mercer kicked both point-after attempts for a 49-0 Wildcat lead.

The Knights’ first score came with 9:18 remaining in the game when Trevor Gibson scored from the Jefferson 6-yard-line. Drew Kline passed to Landin Burch for the two-point conversion and it was 49-8, Wildcats.

Jefferson scored its last touchdown with 6:20 remaining in the game when Jacob Boop ran 21 yards for the score. Ramone Olmeda ran for the two-point PAT and it was 57-8, Wildcats.

Crestview scored the final points of the game on a 9-yard pass from Kline to Javin Etzler, with the PAT attempt no good.

Kline led the Knights in rushing with 62 yards on two carries.
