VW boys 6th, girls 9th at Tiffin CC meet

TIFFIN — This past Saturday, Van Wert High School and Middle School cross country teams competed in the largest high/middle school cross country meet in the country, the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival.

In the high school races, the Van Wert girls’ varsity squad finished ninth out of 42 teams. with Chloee Gamble as the top Cougar runner. In the girls’ junior varsity race, the top runner was Morgan Bracken. On the boys’ side, the Van Wert varsity finished sixth out of 43 teams. Cal Wolfrum finished 14th and Cade Fleming was 20th as the top Cougar boy finishers. In the high school JV race, Blake Henry was the top Cougar runner and a top-10 finisher in the race as well.

The Van Wert Middle School girls’ varsity squad placed 15th out of 52 teams. Caylee Phillips and Jerica Huebner were medal winners, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively.

The VWMS girls’ junior varsity team placed seventh out of 29 teams. Kirsten Dunning and Hannah Baker were the top Cougars, finishing 14th and 37th in the JV race.

The VWMS boys’ varsity squad placed 15th out of 47 teams. Ries Wise, Holdon Reichert and Keaton Brown were eighth, 10th, and 11th, respectively.  In the middle school JV race, the Cougars placed 28th out of 34 teams, with Sam Price as top JV runner.
