DELPHOS — One person was charged with probation violation, while two dogs were shot and killed during the execution of a search warrant in Delphos by the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force.

Members of the task force, along with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT Team, served a search warrant at approximately 10:30 a.m. Friday at 516 W. Sixth St. in Delphos.

Found in the house was a small quantity of suspected marijuana, unidentified pharmaceutical substances, several items of suspected drug paraphernalia and a small quantity of cash.

Daniel Phinney, 30, was arrested on a probation violation, while two large, aggressive dogs were shot and killed by officers. The Van Wert County Dog Warden’s Office was called to the scene to assist in removing the animals.

A juvenile was also present at the residence and Van Wert County Children’s Services representatives were called to the scene. Living conditions at the scene were not suitable for juveniles living in the home, officers noted.

The Van Wert County Prosecutor’s Office will review evidence in the case and could file charges against those living in the residence.
