Knights blanked by Columbus Grove

COLUMBUS GROVE — Columbus Grove used a stifling defense to blank Crestview 18-0 in a Northwest Conference contest played Friday on the Bulldogs’ home field.

‘Grove held Crestview to 184 yards of total offense, while compiling 369 yards of its own, including 210 yards on the ground.

The Knights passed for 111 yards, while ‘Grove had 159 yards through the air.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Bulldogs’ first touchdown came on a 44-yard pass from quarterback Reid Stechschulte to Aidan Fortman with 10:25 to go in the second quarter.

Columbus Grove scored its second TD on a 21-yard run by Stechschulte at the 6:36 mark of the third quarter and finished up with a 1-yard touchdown run with 6:07 remaining in the game.

Stechschulte was the big offensive gun for the Bulldogs, running for 112 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown and hitting 10 of 23 passes for another 159 yards and a TD. Eric Warnecke rushed for 69 yards on 19 carries.

Crestview quarterback Dylan Grandstaff ran for 56 yards on 17 carries for the Knights, and was 4 of 11 for 61 yards passing. Derek Biro had one catch for 50 yards, while Jordan Miller caught three passes, but managed just 19 yards. Chase Clark also caught one pass for 42 yards.

Aidan Fortman caught five passes for 68 yards and a touchdown for Columbus Grove, while Grant Cassidy caught three passes for 56 yards.
